Navin Gurnaney will succeed Sumitro Ghosh to become CEO of Tata Starbucks effective from January 1. With this role, Gurnaney returns to Starbucks after first joining in 2004, where he was looking at the different aspects of the business for eight years.

John Culver, Group President, International, Channel Development and Global Coffee & Tea at Starbucks Coffee Company stated in media, “We are pleased to welcome Navin Gurnaney, who has a proven track record of success within Starbucks and is a business leader with the ability to bring people together, as Tata Starbucks continues to innovate and position itself for long-term growth in the India market.”

The company said Gurnaney would be responsible for driving Tata Starbucks overall strategic direction and vision in India.

Ghosh who took over from Avni Davda, the first CEO, was brought in from the US to expedite the company’s growth in India. He is now moving to the US for a different role within the company. Starbucks hasn't revealed any information on Ghosh's new role.
